520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This paper addresses the question of the ‘stereotyping’ syndrome defined by Paul Guiraud. The clinical elements involved in this syndrome – ‘Palilalia, Echolalia, Mutism and Amimia’ – are all rooted in concurrent mortification of the body, word and voice. This mortification may affect even the motor reflexes of the living being and therefore have the potential of being lethal. Paul Guiraud notes that in addition to this death-bringing potential, the rhythm of the patients’ mental and bodily activities is also impacted. Over and above the syndromal value of this clinical description, we shall examine the meta-psychological scope of this highly unusual form of arrhythmia which the clinical intuition of the organicist psychiatrist introduces in relation to the most severe forms of the psychopathology of psychoses, notably amimia and voiceless mutism.
