| Summary, etc. | Les inégalités de carrière entre les femmes et les hommes encore constatées aujourd’hui sont ancrées dans des discriminations très anciennes. L’exemple choisi ici est celui des inspectrices du Travail en France, entre 1878 (date de leur premier recrutement) et 1974 (date de la mixité des recrutements dans la fonction publique et de la fusion avec les corps des Transports et de l’Agriculture). Jusqu’en 1946 et réglementairement, inspectrices et inspecteurs n’avaient pas accès aux mêmes fonctions, ni aux mêmes mobilités géographiques : on pourrait, à la limite, les penser comme deux corps différents. Les premières étaient par ailleurs bien moins nombreuses que les premiers et le Statut de la fonction publique de 1946, égalitaire dans ses principes, a été installé dans une forte inégalité numérique (une inspectrice pour cinq inspecteurs). Ce statut, qui crée le corps des contrôleur.e.s du Travail, va également changer les types de carrière : la mobilité sociale des inspecteures issues des petites classes moyennes ne passe alors plus par le métier d’institutrice pour embrasser l’inspection du Travail, mais par celui de contrôleure. |

| Summary, etc. | ?The career inequality between women and men still observed today is set in longheld discriminations. The exemple chosen here is that of women work inspectors in France between 1878 (date of their first recruitment) and 1974 (date of the diversification of employment in civil service and the merging with the department of Transporation and Agriculture). Until 1946, and according to regulations, female and male inspectors did not have access to the same positions, nor to the same geographic mobility: one could consider them as separate sectors. Women were fewer than men and the status of civil service of 1946, egalitarian in its principals, was established in a high numeric disparity (one woman inspector for five men). This act, which created the corps of female work inspectors, changed the available career paths: the social mobility of the inspectors originally coming from lower middle class no longer went through the position of teacher to integrate work inspection, but directly through the position of inspector.? |
