Summary, etc. La relation éducative a beaucoup évolué dans le temps, notamment depuis quelques décennies. La dureté des parents, la méchanceté présumée des enfants, cela semble être tombé en désuétude dans notre modernité avancée. Pourtant, il est bien possible que nous n’en ayons pas fini avec le mal dans la relation humaine, y compris dans les relations de grande proximité, comme la relation parent / enfant. Ce mal ne relève pas forcément d’un passage à l’acte, mais d’une propension à se nourrir de l’autre, voire de le parasiter. La culture peut aider les enfants à sentir, mettre en forme, penser cela. Or, si les contes traditionnels mettent effectivement ce problème du mal au cœur de la relation éducative elle-même, la modernité (dans la littérature de jeunesse, notamment) occulte ce mal, voire le renverse (les figures autrefois menaçantes deviennent elles-mêmes vulnérables, elles sont en demande d’amour et ce sont leurs anciennes victimes (les enfants) qui sont méchantes).

Summary, etc. The educational relationship has changed a lot over time, especially in the last few decades. The harshness of parents, the presumed nastiness of children, seem to be things of the past in our advanced modernity. However, it is quite possible that we are still not through with evil in human relationships, including close ones such as the parent / child relationship. This evil is not necessarily a matter of concrete action, but a propensity to feed on or even parasitise the other. Culture can help children to feel, give shape and think through this. However, while traditional tales do indeed place this problem of evil at the heart of the educational relationship, modernity (in children’s literature, in particular) obscures it, or even reverses it (the formerly threatening figures become themselves human, they are asking for love, and it is their former victims (the children) who are evil).
