| Summary, etc. | Heparins are made up of glycosaminoglycan chains that we do have known and used for decades for their anticoagulant properties mainly anti-Xa and anti-IIa. In recent years, apart from anticoagulant effects, attention was drawn to the pleiotropic effects of heparins. Some of these effects are potentially useful in the management of patients infected with Covid-19. Indeed in vitro studies reveal many potential side effects of heparins that could be useful in such viral infections, and clinical studies reinforce the interest and the effectiveness of heparin in patients infected with this virus. |

| Summary, etc. | Les héparines sont constituées de chaînes de glycosaminoglycanes que nous connaissons et utilisons depuis des décennies pour leurs propriétés anticoagulantes essentiellement anti-Xa et anti-IIa. Dans les années récentes, en dehors des effets anticoagulants, l’attention a été attirée sur les effets pléïotropes des héparines. Certains de ces effets sont potentiellement utiles dans la prise en charge des patients infectés par la Covid-19. En effet, les études in vitro révèlent de nombreux effets potentiels annexes des héparines qui pourraient être utiles dans de telles infections virales, et les études de clinique confortent l’intérêt et l’efficacité de l’héparine chez les patients infectés par ce virus. |
