Vendu ou emprunté en édition papier ou numérique, le roman d’amour est téléchargé sur des liseuses, tablettes, téléphones et ordinateurs. Les intrigues de la romance historique sont souvent ancrées dans l’histoire anglaise et écossaise, surtout la Régence. Ainsi, l’attitude des personnages féminins et masculins face aux injonctions sociales de genre et de classe apporte une valeur « exotique » qui résonne chez les consommatrices-électrices jouissant de l’égalité formelle entre les sexes dans les démocraties occidentales. Cette consommation massive du fait historique, authentique, questionne néanmoins l’historicité de l’entreprise fictionnelle. |
