Pourtant, la nuit, ils deviennent pour leur besoin de leurs clients des pseudo-Américains. Ceci affecte leur identité, notamment la relation à la langue, à la culture et jusqu’au corps américain que ces employés revendiquent et s’approprient, à des degrés divers. |

Ahluwalia, 2005), and resorting to Niklas Luhmann’s distinction between the person, the body and the conscience, this article analyzes the situation of call centers employees, middle class Indians who have never travelled abroad. Yet, at night, they become pseudo-Americans interacting with American clients. This deeply affects their identities, including the relation with American language and culture, which they claim for themselves and appropriate in various degrees. |
