| Summary, etc. | In France, television has long been governed by a state monopoly, making it “the voice of France”, especially during the era of the Gaullist ORTF. In this context, rock, an American invention later coloured with a strong British accent, was a stranger on French television. The first programme was dedicated to it in 1967, followed by several others until Les Enfants du rock, which lasted until 1988. Over these two decades, television and rock have learnt to tame each other, first provoking scandal, then initiating a form of synergy in the era of the music video. |

| Summary, etc. | En France, la télévision est longtemps régie par un monopole d’État qui fait d’elle « la voix de la France », a fortiori au temps de l’ORTF gaullien. Dans ce contexte, le rock, invention américaine colorée ensuite d’un fort accent britannique, fait figure d’étranger sur les antennes françaises. Une première émission lui est dédiée en 1967 ; plusieurs se succèdent jusqu’aux Enfants du rock qui perdurent jusqu’en 1988. Pendant ces deux décennies, la télévision et le rock ont appris à s’apprivoiser, provoquant d’abord des scandales, puis amorçant une forme de synergie à l’ère du vidéoclip. |
