| Summary, etc. | En France, depuis 2004, certains centres de remise en forme sont interdits aux hommes. Cela leur permettrait de présenter une organisation matérielle, spatiale et humaine supprimant tout enjeu de normalisation corporelle. C’est ce que nous avons mis à l’épreuve des faits en nous appuyant sur une enquête menée par observations et entretiens semi-directifs. On observe finalement que le corps demeure le lieu d’imposition privilégié de normes de genre. Des formes de contrôle social s’instaurent et contribuent à sanctionner tout écart aux normes corporelles dominantes ; leur originalité tient au fait qu’elles sont portées par les représentant-e-s de ces institutions, et non plus par les pairs, et qu’elles sont justifiées à des fins de santé. |

| Summary, etc. | “Women only” fitness centres: a new kind of health injunction ?Since 2004, in France, fitness centres exclusively dedicated to women are emerging. They are supposed to propose a material, spatial and human organization eliminating all kind of physical normalisation. We challenged this affirmation with an inquiry made of observations and semi-structured interviews. In these places the body remains largely subjected to gendered physical norms. Some forms of social control are established and contribute to penalize every deviation from dominant physical standards ; their originality lie in the fact that these are developed no more by peers but by representatives of these institutions, and by the fact they are justified by health objectives. |
