Le soin pratiqué dans le contexte du domicile des personnes âgées, leurs fragilités, mais aussi leurs habitudes, leur intimité, leur histoire, invitent à se questionner sur la marge de manœuvre du concepteur et de ses modes d’action. Dans cette perspective, nous interrogeons la notion de design universel, laquelle est surreprésentée lorsqu’il s’agit de considérer le design face à la question de la santé ou de la médecine et nous réfléchissons à l’élaboration d’un design des singularités. Il convient dès lors de prêter une attention particulière à la notion de domicile au travers d’un travail sur l’adaptabilité et l’appropriabilité, selon ce qu’induisent les étapes de transition dans la « vie vieillissante », mais aussi sur l’habitant, celui qui fait le lieu. Comment le concepteur peut-il accompagner cette réflexion sur le « prendre soin » et comment devient-il un accompagnant ?

The care practiced in the context of the elderly’s home, their fragilities, but also their habits, their intimacy and their history, invite us to question the designer’s margin and modes of action. In this perspective, we question the notion of Universal design, which is overrepresented when it comes to consider health and medical design and we are thinking the development of a design of singularities. Special attention should therefore be paid to the notion of « home » through work on adaptability and appropriateness, as reflected in the stages of transition in the « aging life », but we also consider the inhabitant, the one who makes the place. How can the designer accompany this thinking on « taking care » and how does he become a support ?
