Cet article étudie la façon dont s’est établi un espace des sports spécifiques tchétchènes au sein même de l’espace des sports russes. Organisé autour d’une gestion centralisée, clanique et autoritaire, le système de Ramzan Kadyrov se fonde sur le développement massif d’infrastructures sportives, la mobilisation de la notoriété des sportifs et la discipline de sa population pour promouvoir la Tchétchénie à l’étranger. Grâce à une méthode d’enquête plurielle (observation in situ, entretiens, documents officiels), ce texte questionne l’influence de l’État central russe sur ses régions à forte identité culturelle et traditionnelle tout en montrant sa capacité à exister jusque dans les confins de la Russie.

This article aims at understanding the way in which a specific Chechen sports space was established within the Russian sports space itself. Organized around centralized, clan-based and authoritarian management, Ramzan Kadyrov’s system is based on the massive development of sports infrastructure, the mobilization of the notoriety of athletes and the discipline of its population to promote Chechnya abroad. Thanks to a plural method of investigation (in situ observation, interviews, official documents), this text questions the influence of the Russian central state on its regions with a strong cultural and traditional identity while showing its capacity to exist even in the borders of Russia.
