L’apparition et le développement du concept de prolétariat chez le jeune Marx ont peu été étudiés. Althusser a opposé les œuvres de jeunesse (1841-1845) aux œuvres dites de maturité. Au contraire, certains ont vu, dans le prolongement de la notion d’individu que constitue le prolétariat, un concept fondamental dont ont été dérivés les concepts ultérieurs. Dans cet article, nous suivons cette perspective tracée par Henry et appuyée par Ricœur. Nous examinons la notion d’individu propre au jeune Marx tout en considérant la genèse du prolétariat avant que Marx ne s’en empare. Puis, nous étudions la double évolution de ce concept à l’aune de l’ambition philosophique et politique marxienne. Codes JEL : B14, B24, B31, B51

The emergence and development of the concept of the proletariat in the young Marx have not been extensively studied. Althusser opposed the early Marxian works to the ‘mature’ ones. Conversely, some authors have considered the proletariat as the extension of the notion of the individual, a fundamental concept from which subsequent later concepts were derived. We base our article on this analysis expressed by Henry and Ricœur. We review the concept of young Marx’s individual while considering the genesis of the proletariat before he redefines it. We then study the double evolution of this concept in terms of philosophical and Marxian political ambition.
