La biographie contemporaine semble entraînée dans une spirale de surenchère et de transgression : biofictions, romans, mémoires imaginaires où se brouille la frontière entre assertions documentées et affabulations. Une tendance lourde et constante anime cette évolution par hybridation : le je du biographe sort de l’ombre, et aspire à s’exprimer, au risque de malmener les règles traditionnelles, et le pacte d’humilité et de vérité qui liait l’auteur à son lecteur. Le narrateur, jusque-là absorbé dans la remémoration de l’autre, fait retour dans son récit, et revendique le droit à la présence et à la visibilité.

Contemporary biography seems to have been drawn into a spiral of everincreasing transgression: biofictions, novels, imaginary memoirs which blur the frontiers between documented assertions and pure invention. A powerful trend lies behind this evolution through hybridation: the biographer’s ego is coming out of the closet and wants to express itself, even if that means violating traditional rules and the pact of humility and sincerity uniting the author and his readers. The narrator, who had until then been absorbed in the remembrance of the other, comes back within his narration and claims his right to presence and visibility.
