La recherche en littérature dans les universités ivoiriennes s’articule autour de trois grands moments. D’abord entre 1965 et 1970, elle est dominée par les personnalités expatriées. Ensuite la période 1970-2000 témoigne de la volonté d’africanisation à travers les activités du Groupe d’étude et de recherche sur les traditions orales (GRTO) et de l’Institut de littérature et d’esthétique négro-africaines (ILENA). Enfin au cours des années 2000, l’on assiste à une rupture épistémologique autour des genres néo-urbains comme zouglou et le nouchi.

Literature research in Ivorian universities revolves around three major periods. First from 1965 till 1970, it is dominated by expatriate personalities. Then the period (1970-2000) testifies to the will for africanization through the activities of the Study Group and Research on Oral Traditions (GRTO) and the Institute of Negro African Literature and esthetics (ILENA). Finally, during the 2000s, there is an epistemological break with neo-urban genres such as zouglou and nouchi.
