Les sections de neutralisation de grottes en Algérie (1959-1962) : l’utilisation du génie dans la lutte antisubversive
Type de matériel :
79
Confronted with the strategy of destruction of the FLN, the Engineer branch develops effective anti-subversive tactics. While the network of caves constitutes a main advantage in the fight of the rebellion, the French army, in particular the Combat Engineers, from 1959, neutralizes gradually this underground network by putting out of action the possible occupants (search and assault missions) and by preventing any new occupation and use of these places (missions of destruction and interdiction). This success is based on the capacity of adaptation and innovation of the Engineer branch.
