Destinée à améliorer la qualité de la justice, la pratique de l'intervision consiste en ce qu'un magistrat observe le comportement de l'un de ses collègues en audience ou en réunion et lui fasse part, au cours d'une phase d'échange, de ses impressions, qui peuvent porter tant sur les conditions d'accueil du justiciable que sur l'organisation de l'espace, la tenue vestimentaire du magistrat, sa gestuelle ou son attention. Cette méthode d'analyse « importée » des Pays-Bas doit respecter rigoureusement certains principes tels que l'exclusion de tout lien hiérarchique, une attitude bienveillante, la réciprocité, le caractère volontaire et la confidentialité.

Peer review, or intervision, is designed to improve the quality of justice. In this practice, a professional magistrate (judge or prosecutor) observes the behaviour of one of their colleagues during a trial or a hearing and then, in an exchange phase, tells them what they think of the way justiciables are treated, of the organization of space, of the way they dress, of their body language or attention for example. This method of analysis, which was "imported" from the Netherlands, must strictly follow some principles such as the exclusion of any hierarchical link, a benevolent attitude, reciprocity, voluntariness and confidentiality.
