Our research focuses on the emergence of collective activity, and its support for reflexivity among students in initial teacher training, working in groups around video clips of trainee teachers. Interactional analysis of the exchanges, gathered during collective self-confrontations, highlights higher levels of coordination and reflexivity depending on the group’s ability to identify common objects of reflection, concerns, or reference systems. This article also provides an opportunity for a methodological reflection on how to study work collectives.
