Military loyalty and betrayals: A spatialised understanding of power relations in the Guinean army
Type de matériel :
19
This article adopts a spatial perspective in order to understand power relations in the Guinean military over the past ten years. In addition to the implementation of the Security Sector Reform (SSR) during the Alpha Condé regime, the decade was marked by the seizure of power by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya on 5 September 2021. Rather than analysing this event in terms of its exceptionality, the aim here is to bring to light the far more structural effects of fragmentation and spatial-relational configurations on the Guinean armed forces, from the military camps to training abroad, including the key role played by posting pathways.
