Résumé Différents travaux recourent à la théorie des représentations sociales pour étayer des approches des pratiques dans le champ de la protection de l’enfance. Ceci n’est pas sans poser problème. L’article examine ceux-ci du point de vue des simplifications théoriques à l’œuvre, du point de vue du lien entre pratiques et représentations et du point de vue méthodologique.

Understanding social practices and social representations: the field of child welfareA number of different works refer to the theory of social representations as underpinning the approaches adopted child welfare practices. This is not unproblematic. The present article examines three difficulties in considering such practices in the light of social representations: from the point of view of theoretical simplifications, the forms that practices take and representations and in the light of methodological issues.
