RésuméDans cette recherche, nous nous intéressons à la représentation des hommes politiques, étudiée comme un système de catégories. Les sujets, hommes ou femmes, politiquement orientés à Droite ou à Gauche, sont interrogés à propos de la catégorie super ordonnée des « hommes politiques » et à propos des sous-catégories « président de la république », « député » et « maire ». Les résultats sont analysés en référence à la théorie du noyau et au modèle prototypique des catégories. Ils mettent en évidence l’existence d’un noyau commun à toutes les catégories explorées et la présence d’éléments centraux spécifiques à certaines sous-catégories. De plus, nous notons des modulations dans l’importance accordée à certains éléments selon le sexe et l’orientation politique des sujets.

Social Representations and Categories Systems. The Case of PoliticiansThis study focuses on the representation of politicians regarded as a category system. The participants, men vs. women, right vs. left wing oriented, were questioned on the superordinate category termed as "politicians" or on the subordinate categories termed as "president", "deputy" and "mayor". The data were analyzed according to the central core theory and the prototype model of categories. Results highlight that a central core is common to all the above mentioned categories and that certain central elements are specific to specific sub-categories. In addition, results showed that the importance credited to some elements fluctuates with participants’ both gender and political orientation.

ResumenEn esta investigación nos interesamos por la representación de los hombres políticos, estudiada como un sistema de categorías. Los sujetos, hombres o mujeres, políticamente orientados a la derecha o a la izquierda, son interrogados a propósito de la categoría supra-ordenada de los “ hombres políticos ” y a propósito de las subcategorías “ presidente de la república ”, “diputado” y “alcalde”. Los resultados son analizados en referencia a la teoría del núcleo y al modelo de las categorías como prototipos. Ponen en evidencia la existencia de un núcleo común a todas las categorías exploradas y la presencia de elementos centrales específicos a ciertas subcategorías. Además, advertimos modulaciones en la importancia concedida a ciertos elementos según el sexo y la orientación política de los sujetos.

ZusammenfassungIn der vorliegenden Studie lag das Forschungsinteresse in der Untersuchung der Repräsentation „Politiker“ als Kategoriensystem. Die Probanden, Männer und Frauen, politisch rechts oder links orientiert, wurden befragt bezüglich der übergeordneten Kategorie „Politiker“ und der untergeordneten Kategorien „Präsident der Republik“, „Abgeordneter“ und „Bürgermeister“. Die erhobenen Daten wurden analysiert im Hinblick auf die „Theorie de Noyeau“ und auf das Modell prototypischer Kategorien. Die Ergebnisse verweisen auf die Existenz eines Kernbereiches, der allen untersuchten Kategorien gemeinsam ist, und auf das Vorliegen zentraler Elemente, die für bestimmte Subkategorien spezifisch sind. Ferner konnten je nach Geschlechtszugehörigkeit und politischer Orientierung des Probanden bestimmte Varianten die Bedeutsamkeit bestimmter Elemente betreffend festgestellt werden.

RiassuntoIn questa ricerca, c’interessiamo alla rappresentazione degli uomini politici, studiata come sistema di categorie. I partecipanti, uomini o donne, orientati politicamente a Destra o a Sinistra, vengono interpellati a proposito della categoria super-ordinata degli “uomini politici” e a proposito delle sottocategorie “presidente della repubblica”, “deputato” e “sindaco”. I risultati vengono analizzati riferendosi alla teoria del nucleo e al modello prototipico delle categorie. Essi evidenziano l’esistenza di un nucleo comune a tutte le categorie esplorate e la presenza di elementi centrali specifici ad alcune sottocategorie. In più, si possono avvertire delle modulazioni nell’importanza accordata ad alcuni elementi, a seconda del sesso e dell’orientamento politico dei partecipanti.
