La première concerne les effets de l’empathie sur la qualité du transfert, la seconde considère l’empathie comme voie de connaissance et possiblement d’accès à l’inconscient.

This paper looks at the question of empathy and its value to psychoanalysis. What does it mean in clinical terms? Empathy is a response to two concerns which at first seem heterogeneous, but which are in fact interdependent. The first involves the effects of empathy on the quality of transference and the second explores empathy as a means of better understanding and accessing the unconscious.
