L’article propose, à partir d’une situation clinique d’adolescent qui se scarifie, d’interroger la fonction de la douleur dans son rapport aux affects. Le corps est affecté, dans le double sens de l’atteinte dont il témoigne et du rôle qui lui est assigné d’exprimer la souffrance vécue. La conduite d’attaque du corps relève d’une affectation masochiste des limites corporelles qui pourra œuvrer pour une activité de liaison intrapsychique et l’advenue des affects.

Based on a clinical case with an adolescent who cuts himself, this paper examines the role of pain in relation to affects. There is a double impact on the body, both in the way that it is affected and in the role that has been assigned to it in expressing the suffering that the teenager is going through. Self-harming behaviour falls within the scope of a masochistic affectation to bodily limits which in turn acts as an intrapsychic linking activity to what then becomes of the affects.
