La polarité masculin/féminin serait le pivot de l’« ordre » qui définit par le rejet l’idéal groupal de la famille classique, et que menace l’aveu de l’homosexualité. Pour maintenir sa place dans le groupe, le sujet serait alors contraint à des sacrifices qui mettent en jeu son identité et son intégrité spéculaire.

’ Homosexuality is Bad’. Reflections on the Source and Consequences of ‘Homophobia.’ The author of this article uses his clinical practice with young homosexual victims of homophobia to explore the hypothesis that this hatred for a form of desire which does not conform to the heterosexual paradigm is rooted in extremely rigid representations of gender. The binary opposition between male/female is the keystone of an ‘order’ which is defined in terms of its rejection of the ideal of the traditional family group and which prevents many individuals from disclosing their homosexuality. To maintain his or her place within this group, the subject is therefore obliged to make sacrifices which bring his identity and specular integrity into play.
