AbstractUnderstanding the adolescent homosexual experience from identity and recognition standpoint is the major sociological issue of this contribution. In fact, the gay teenager is a self in search for identity. In a heterosexual context that judges and condemns, such self-experiences this quest as suffering, since he feels indifference and stigma towards himself. Thereby, the homosexual group, this alternative space of self-construction, functions as a strong identity support, allowing him to deploy strategies that serve to get around the stigma, by reinforcing a feeling of identity and personal worth.

RésuméComprendre l’expérience adolescente homosexuelle sous l’angle de l’identité et de la reconnaissance est l’enjeu sociologique majeur de cette contribution. En fait, l’adolescent gay est un sujet en quête de soi. Dans un contexte hétérosexuel qui juge et condamne, ce sujet vit cette quête comme une souffrance, puisqu’il ressent de l’indifférence et de la stigmatisation à son égard. Ainsi, le groupe homosexuel en tant qu’espace alternatif de construction de soi fonctionne comme un fort support identitaire. Il permet à l’adolescent gay de déployer des stratégies qui permettent de contourner le stigmate, en renforçant un sentiment d’identité et de valorisation personnelle.
