A survey was conducted among companies in western France to find out the reality of the field in terms of managers’ performance appraisal, to study the boundaries of this system within the functions (MC and HR) of the organization, and to raise awareness among researchers and professionals of the importance of managers’ performance appraisal as an indispensable complement to management control systems within the performance management systems of companies.
