The text published and translated here has been written in 1490’s and it is presented as an extract of the Conciliator, the medical encyclopaedia written by Peter of Abano in 1310. But it is in fact of a summary of only one differentia of the Conciliator, the differentia 156, which is about the therapeutic incantations. The author of this paraphrase is a certain Petrus Franconis de Zelandia. The differentia 156 is resumed, but also commented and adapted to new problems. This text contributes to give a better understanding of the differentia 156; it is also the witness of a new interest for the concept of virtus verborum at the end of the XVth century.
