The physiocrat Paul Pierre Lemercier de la Rivière—a parliamentarian, former colonial administrator, jurist, and publicist— enriched in the context of the Revolution the political propositions he had been developing since the 1760s, and proposed the framework of a constitution for the kingdom of France. This unknown contribution from one of the most political members of the school founded by Quesnay is notably accompanied by principles and rules that allowed for a control of constitutionality over the legislative actions of political institutions.
