The endless struggle: a historical assessment of zapatismo (1969-2021)

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article attempts to draw up a balance sheet of Zapatismo social and political achievements throughout the different stages of its long history. It conceives neozapatismo as a “system of protest” made up of the association between its military organization (the Zapatista Army of National Liberation) and its civil component (the support bases), articulated by a complex organization at the local, regional and supra-regional levels, and by its political structures: the rebel Zapatista Autonomous Municipalities and the “Good Government Boards”. The author proposes to use historical periodization as a tool of analysis, also taking into consideration the changes in the composition of this movement, its internal organization and the diversity of its goals, objectives and political projects. It includes the period of AMLO’s government but considers a long period since the beginning of the movement.
