The study of the pottery uncovered during the excavation carried out at the Château d’Olivet, at Grimbosq (Calvados)

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article resumes the study of the pottery uncovered at the Château d’Olivet, excavated from 1975 to 1978 by Michel de Boüard and Joseph Decaëns. This emblematic castle built by the Taisson family in the Cinglais region, and then taken over by the Tournebu family, still raises numerous questions. To understand its occupation, it was necessary to re-examine the field data using current methods. Finally, the study of the potteries’ material—based on a comparison of macroscopic, microscopic, and chemical analyses—, and also their shapes, has made it possible to confirm and propose new hypotheses related to the spatial organisation of the site, its dating, and its economic integration within western Normandy.
