Anthropological and/or sociological reading ? Some remarks on a book by Panayota Badinou, La laine et le parfum. Analysis of a book on the imagery of epinetra and alabastra brings to light some contradictions in interpretation of scenes where the status of the women shown depends on a documentary type of analysis. The generally accurate observations of the A. show that the painters confused the social categories and simply express the beauty and eroticism of the women, a factor often associated with wool-working.
