While more and more women practise physical activities or sports, not all have access to this practice, social properties making differences and inequalities between them. Moreover, a look back in history shows a differentiated feminization of sports, some having been women’s sports for a long time, others still hardly feminized at all. While all sports are presented as accessible today, the gendering of practice remains real. This lasting differentiated distribution of men and women in physical and sporting activities goes alongside the gendering of all forms of work and is a factor in revealing the social construction of femininity.
