After having defined the status of new technologies in our society, the authors question the virtual dependency matter.If its use comes in direct echo to adolescent issues, what is the origin of the screens’ “misuse” ? What is precisely searched for in the use of these “virtual worlds” ? What are the vulnerability elements that can lead to an excessive use and what can this abuse’s function be for the psychical economy ? The authors then present the case of a young hospitalized patient where the investigation of the nature of his link to video games enabled a direct access to unconscious contents that were repressed and worrisome.
