On the basis of research interviews, this paper aims to approach the concepts of “negative transmission” in filiation and in particular in access to paternity. What is transmitted during access to paternity, and what have the authors missed in this passage? Paternity is understood and questioned in terms of what a man gains when he becomes a father, and not of what it supports or not in children as paternal function. Finally, paternity is considered within the framework of the unconscious bond of the couple which led to its emergence. How does the imaginary, symbolic, and real space created by this bond support or prevent this access?
