Forgetfulness in Alzheimer’s Disease: The Patient’s Experience
Type de matériel :
83
Often it is difficult to understand how patients with Alzheimer’s disease cope with forgetfulness. While some subjects are painfully aware of their troubles, it is hard to grasp the way the patient feels, because of the lack of awareness about anosognosia, language deterioration, and the loss of one’s train of thought. Yet the analysis of patient interviews shows how much their life experience goes beyond simple forgetfulness. The perception that others are changing their attitude toward them is very strong; they also speak of their fear of others’ judgment, of feeling undervalued, and of losing control of their life.
