The uses of the concept of mediation in the journal Cliopsy

The author presents a research project conducted as part of his “Habilitation à diriger des recherches” (a second thesis that qualifies the candidate to become a Full Professor in French universities) in education science. Considering his professional practice analysis device as a mediation device, the author seeks to situate his argument in the context of research linking education and psychoanalysis in France. To do this, he identifies and analyzes the uses of the concept of mediation in Cliopsy between 2009 and 2017. He first recalls that the concept of mediation has been the subject of many works in educational sciences since the 1980s, particularly in the field of institutional pedagogy. He then identifies five meanings of the concept of mediation as it is mobilized in the first seventeen issues of the journal Cliopsy. The study thus identifies developments and theoretical inflections in the uses of the concept of mediation in the current of psychoanalytically oriented clinical research in education and training.
