Attachment disorder and intersubjective relationships in child victims of abuse

This article presents the attachment and intersubjective disorders of many children who have endured situations of extreme carelessness and abuse on a frequent and repeated basis. In this context, these children’s emotional experiences have been traumatic. After issuing a reminder about basic needs that focuses on attachment links, this research aims to analyze how these early experiences, and the defense system put in place by children for an excessive length of time in order to survive on a psychological level, have caused serious disorders both in terms of development, and also at the level of children’s psychological, neurological, and social functioning. It also addresses possible areas to consider for the review and improvement of the care provided to such children in their daily environment.
