Psychiatric care in the home: What sort of therapeutic framework will allow the emergence of a free subject?

Since December 2011, the Belgian government has supported the implementation of mobile psychiatric teams funded from the closure of hospital beds. This innovative mobile care project was trialed by the mobile team of Mons Hainaut in Belgium. This process of psychiatric home interventions revives an eternal debate about personal freedoms and disturbs our customary representations of institutional psychiatry. It relates to the history of deinstitutionalization, and leads us to reconsider our therapeutic framework and the relationship between the “medical” caregiver and their patient. In this article, we illustrate with a clinical situation the concept of therapeutic triangulation: a facilitating tool in our mobile psychiatric care project.
