The author of this article identifies elements of fantasy associatedwith uterus transplants. The latter is a recent therapeutic possibility in which an organ is made available on a temporary basis, aform of transplantation never before practised. From a clinicalperspective, the author shows that behind the sense of hope thisclearly generates in candidates for uterus transplant (who see itas a means of asserting their femininity and becoming pregnant, hitherto declared impossible), a sense of worrying strangenessalso lurks, as the pregnant body also triggers a sense of anxiety.
