Acute anterior uveitis under bisphosphonates: A serious condition to be aware of
Type de matériel :
54
Ocular inflammatory reactions following treatment with bisphosphonates are rare. Their physiopathological mechanism is still poorly understood, but it appears to be linked to an immunological reaction mediated by certain cytokines. Observation: We present the case of a 63-year-old patient monitored for severe osteoporosis and treated with zoledronate. The patient presented with a decrease in visual acuity diagnosed as acute anterior uveitis six weeks after the initiation of treatment. Conclusion: Acute anterior uveitis is an important condition to be aware of, since proper evaluation and rapid management can reduce complications involving visual prognosis.
