Refeeding syndrome (RS) corresponds to the clinico-biological manifestations that may appear in the first few days following the reintroduction of caloric intake in a patient who has not had any nutrition for some time. It can occur in any refeeding situation, including parenteral, enteral, or even oral refeeding. Clinical manifestations are then linked to induced ionic and vitamin disorders. Due to their great fragility and the frequency of undernutrition, the geriatric population is particularly at risk of RS. The first step in managing refeeding syndrome is to be aware of it! In this article, we will present the essential points to be familiar with to manage this syndrome.
