Whipple’s disease and multifocal motor neuropathy with conduction block: A case report

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Whipple’s disease is a rare infectious disease, the classic presentation of which is the combination of polyarthralgia, diarrhea, and weight loss. However, it can present in a wide variety of ways. Its incidence is 0.5 to 1 case per 1 million. If left undiagnosed and untreated, it can be fatal. Multifocal motor neuropathy with conduction block is a chronic pure motor neurological dysimmune disorder with an estimated prevalence of 1 to 2 cases per 100,000, which usually respond to treatment with intravenous immunoglobulins. We describe the case of a man in whom the diagnosis of these two pathologies was made concomitantly and whose favorable evolution under antibiotic therapy raises the question of a link between the two conditions.
