Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Time is an ubiquitous aspect of our lives. It structures a great number of daily living activities as it is intertwined with cognitive functioning. These abilities may evolve, whether in healthy aging or in the presence of neurodegenerative syndromes for example, leading to notable deteriorations in perception and memory of time. To bridge the gap that currently exists between fundamental research on time processing and clinical applications, we developed a clinical neuropsychological tool to assess time processing abilities: the Cognitive Health Ratings Of Neuropsychological Skills for temporal perception (CHRONOS). This paper/pencil test lasting less than ten minutes encompasses the four main types of temporal judgment: A) Duration processing; B) Simultaneity and temporal order; C) Feeling of the passage of time; D) Mental time travel. Exploratory factor analysis conducted on the performances of the 88 healthy participants (aged 20 to 80 years) reflected the four above-mentioned aspects of temporal processing, albeit with a low internal consistency (ω of 0.023). These preliminary results underline the clinical value of considering the CHRONOS Battery to better understand the cognitive mechanisms involved in temporal processing. Normative data and further validation analyses are currently being collected, which will further refine these initial results.
