Resistance to self-erasure: Writings of the unerasable
Type de matériel :
TexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2025.
Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article examines modes of resistance to de-subjectification in clinical settings involving passive or active self-erasure. In particular, the aim is to identify unerasable elements in the process of memory loss induced by neurodegenerative disorders, and to grasp how these patients, who are dealing with profound psychological and identity-related breakdown, find ways, at the very limits of self erasure, to reestablish themselves among the fabric of original, subjective memories, which they are perhaps tirelessly trying to rewrite. Based on an examination of the conflicting relationships between Body, Reality, Death, Origin, and Writing in neuro-affected patients, the aim of this work is to understand how certain patients impose self-erasing behaviors on themselves, as they search for the minimal conditions of their reality, an unerasable origin from which they can reaffirm and rebuild their existence, trace the boundaries of their unique actuality, in efforts to resist any form of alienation from the Other.
