TexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2025.
Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is manifested by difficulties in communication, social interaction and repetitive behaviours that begin early in children who, in Africa, generally grow up alongside siblings. The research behind this article explores, through an interview, the experiences of one brother and three sisters of children with ASD encountered in Chad. The results show that they suffer psychologically, with feelings of powerlessness and guilt regarding their sibling’s disability, whom they see as a foreign child in need of protection. They use games to enter into a relationship with the ASD child, in order to contain the strangeness the latter reflects back to them. The study shows the need to support them and make them a resource for children with ASD, as well as for professionals.
