What can be said about the genealogical passing down of shame? The author first recalls the difference between shame and disgrace before going on to introduce the notion of a genealogical scenario of bearing shame especially with respect to a child’s conception. Using an illustration based on the example of psychoanalytical family therapy and community disaster traumatism, he describes the importance of narrative figuration in clinical treatment of shame in a psychoanalytical perspective of links.
