Modern Myths of Domination

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2002. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The question of domination in the couple can generate misunderstanding and absurd mythic beliefs which sometimes are more harmful than domination itself. The author’s thesis is that mastery is ordinarily developing within the couple in the shape of a functional mastery. It is the consequence of the couple link. On the other hand, it can take, in dysfunctional couples, the shape of constraint, phallic challenge, pathological fear of being sucked up, absorb or crushed by the other, or even the shape of intolerance towards the fulfilment of the other with the intention to enslave her or him. Relationship between persons of the opposite sex have certainly improved in the direction of mutual respect. But now some new ways of domination appear, more subtle than in the past, and risk to make the woman the loser again. Showing a study case, the author tries to point the unconscious origin of domination and its myths.
