Intimacy and Intimate Link

If the notion of intimacy is still little explored in psychoanalysis, the analysis of psychoanalytic texts referring to it enables us to approach the conditions of its setting up and the psychic dynamics that it underlies. From this point it appears that a secret intimacy between two beings, engaged in a relationship based on confidence and seduction, is an “uncommon” relational room in which subjects are insatiably seeking knowledge through the other about the emptiness enigma. For relational experience, lived within a limited time, attracts while “strangely” recalling primitive interrogations related to the sources of desire. This intimacy, stimulated by emptiness and which conveys elements of the history, then leads to a deep and privileged bonding. The deficiencies of intimacy are due to the non-acknowledgment of otherness and to the desire to fill emptiness with the other.
