Love under the Sign of the Paradox: The Love Bond and Mistreatment
Type de matériel :
44
In order to understand abuse as a component of a loving relationship, the concept of “love” must be broken down into two parts: the need for a link, security and continuity, on the one hand, and on the other, the unconscious “informations” which are acted upon in future relationships. The latter will stipulate the quality of the link. These informations, which stem from the parents, and other previous generations, sometimes carry patterns of abuse that the adult will perform throughout the course of their love life. This repetition, above and beyond the emotional intensity it provides, should be understood as an attempt at exploring and subsequently dealing with the traumas of the past, making amends with them, and repairing the damage within one’s self.
