As social care facilities, CHRS shelters are subject to the provisions of the Social Action and Families Code for external evaluations. In this context, the question of the participation of residents in the programs arises, placing institutions in a position of contradiction. This article explains these elements and attempts to propose ways to break the impasse of a paroxysmal or even nonexistent participation. This will involve reconsidering individuals’ rights, working on social workers’ perceptions of them, reconsidering conflicts between the people they support and professionals, and initiating new forms of support.
