Open Dialogue in child protection: putting the child at the centre

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2025. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : In a context marked by institutional crisis, care for children and adolescents in protective custody is weakened by repeated break downs that exacerbate the trauma that led to their placement. Drawing on their experience as a mobile team working at the interface of child psychiatry and child protection, the authors stress the value of the Open Dialogue approach in their clinical practice with these young people. Starting from the difficulties and obstacles to the caring relationship, they show how adopting the principles of Open Dialogue is fruitful for rethinking inter-institutional work in complex situations. By putting the child at the centre of the dialogue and supporting the activation of a network of resource persons, this renewed practice of shared care aims to achieve greater stability in placement and care processes, which is a prerequisite for greater mental continuity for the young people concerned.
