Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2025. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 1210 C.E.) is an outstanding theologian of the Ashʿarite school, who was also influenced by the Arabic philosophical tradition (falsafa), and Avicennism in particular. Despite the widespread interest in his work, no extensive study has focused on the concept of unity in Rāzī’s thought. The aim of this article is to analyze certain aspects of unity in his theology and to identify this notion in the context of his theory of attributes: Is unity described as one of the divine attributes? And, if so, is it a positive or negative attribute? Which texts did Rāzī consult in developing his theory of unity? This study tackles some fundamental issues in Rāzī by examining both his works of philosophy (ḥikma) and his works of theology (kalām).
